Fave Song at the Moment
Two Fat Feet by The Fiery Furnaces...
Slip me out of my northern noose
My Easter Egg
My western wheel
And a snouthern snake
I've got a busted breast and a jiggly thigh
A rumpled roast and a ragged eye
A floppy neck and two fat feet
Sneaky cheeks chewin' greasy gums
You got a wing in your snaggle tooth
And you can't knock it back with no 80 proof
You got a wing in your snaggle tooth
And you can't knock it back with no 80 proof
I’ve listened to both their albums 214,865 times each and have fallen hopelessly in love with their sound. My boyfriend and I went to go see them when they played at the Doug Fir Lounge back in October. But their set consisted of Eleanor putting together snippets of lyrics from a bunch of songs in one big long song. Similar to spoken word to a bland drum/bass/guitar/synth backing track...so after about 45 minutes we ended up leaving. I didn’t expect it to sound exactly like the CD. In fact, their live tracks end up sounding nothing like them, but the lyrics lose something when they’re not blended with their quirky hooks --the rhythmic electronic sounds, the rousing piano or some edgy guitar riffs. But hey, it’s their show, and all the cool kids in the audience didn’t seem to mind. But when I go to a show, I want to sing along, want to dance. It was just too experimental for my taste. Still, both these CD’s are in heavy, heavy rotation at work, in the car, at the gym or wherever I can squeeze them into my life soundtrack.
