Harvey Danger wowed the crowd at the Crystal Ballroom last night. They performed a great mix of songs spanning all three albums (four, if you count the bonus disc from the latest release), including the notorious, but audience-approved, hit Flagpole Sitta. My only complaint (if you can call it that) is they didn't play Private Helicopter, which is one of my personal faves from the Merrymakers album, but hey, only in my own mind does the world revolve around me.

This was definitely a "fan's" show. They played all the high energy singles during the beginning and middle of the set, leaving the end (including the encore) for the band's mellower, less-whimsical songs that showcase the band's talent and Sean's songwriting ability. Speaking of whom, I caught Sean wandering about the back of the crowd during the Stars of Track and Field set, so I wandered over to greet and love. I refrained from fondling his hair. Barely.

Song of the Day: The Long Winters :: "The Commmander Thinks Aloud"

For the next two weeks, you can hear John Roderick's acoustic in-studio KEXP performance. Marvel at John saying wacky things like, "…where they probably ate cocaine sandwiches all day…" and "…then I'll turn into Billy Corgan."

Oh, and the music is glorious too. So go (now!) to the streaming archive, select today's date and enter 12:00 pm under the Listen by Time section. Groovy.
