I had my first solid run of the year this morning. Strong all the way through the intervals – no pain my hips, left knee or calves for the entire four miles. It was incredible. My run on Saturday night felt like I had strapped two bricks to my lower legs. It was horrible. I went three miles, but only a mile and a half of that was running, and even then it was only at a 10:30 minute pace, which isn't really running, it's more like "recovery" (unless you're running the ol' 26.2 of course).

I'd like to repeat it tomorrow. We'll see how that goes.

Being that my sweetie was in Seattle, and I was too lazy to visit my parents, I mostly opted out watching sports this weekend (racing excluded of course). My oldest was hanging out with her "boyfriend" whom she is "not dating" (they constantly break-up, so they say they're not dating to put the break-up card out of play - and funnily enough, it works), my youngest was working on one of her past-due assignments (sigh) and my body informed me that it would eat an entire bag of potato chips if I sat in front of the TV to watch the race, so I went to the gym to watch it.

As I mentioned above, my run sucked hard, but I did perform an amazing feat of athleticism by keeping myself from falling of the back of the treadmill (my hat did fly off the treadmill, however it was uninjured) after Tony Stewart hit the wall after having lead 61 laps. And then stooopid Jimmie Johnson took the lead near the end. I have never prayed so hard to have a driver cut a tire, but despite the tires were rubbing the fender so hard that SPARKS WERE FLYING OFF THE CAR, those tires did not go down. Aaargh! Now Jimmie and Tony are tied for the points lead. Sigh.

So while I wasn't paying attention, the Sea Chickens won (bah) and the Raiders and Patriots both lost. Apparently, Tom Brady and the Patriots tried to rally against Jake "Please-Shave-The-Mustache" Plummer and the Broncos in the second half after the Broncos pummeled them during the second quarter, but to no avail. The Raiders just plain suck and can't afford to buy a win. And it's too bad the Raiders don't have the Saints on their schedule, because then they might accidentally win. Oh, and Randy Moss injured his groin, but I suspect it wasn't during the game. Ba-dum-bump.

Song of the Day - Road Leads Where It's Lead by The Secret Machines. Cool song. Great to run to (no, it doesn't ALWAYS have to be a great running song for me to like it – it just helps). You can hear it at their web site, along the rest of the tracks from their first full-length release, Now Here Is Nowhere, none of which I like as much as this one, although I'm quite fond of "Leaves Are Gone".

They also released an EP a few months back, which seems like a popular thing to do now between albums. That reminds me, I've yet to post my review regarding the new Long Winters EP, which shouldn't take long. Mmmmm…it's love.
