Jedi Mind Tricks

I woke up this morning and it was FREEZING COLD. The LAST thing I wanted to do was leave my bed. The ONLY thing that got me out of bed this morning was the thought of that hot tub. I threw my gym clothes in the dryer (I heart putting on hot clothes on a cold morning), grabbed all my gear and de-iced the car while preoccupying my brain with thoughts of the hot tub. The hot tub's not just for warming up; it's the ultimate jedi mind trick to get to the gym.

I spend a couple minutes in front of the jets with each of the muscle groups - hip flexors, quads, hamstrings, calves and achilles - then towel off, throw on my workout clothes and just go for a run. My body doesn't even care that I've tricked it. Popped in 4 miles and it felt great, no aches and pains.

I'm finally excited about the upcoming running season and I'm going to spend some time today figuring out which races to run next year. Yay!
