Second day going to the gym, 15 minutes later than yesterday, but I got my butt in there. It’s hard because it’s still cold and dark outside. And my bed is like a cozy womb. I wear wool socks to bed so my feet don’t freeze and snap off overnight. These magical socks make it harder to get out of bed.
I gave myself a healthy dose of discipline when I got there. There is this thing that I suffer from that makes me push myself until I can’t go anymore. And, left to my own devices, I will do this everyday until I either 1) pass out or 2) injure myself, or (more likely), 3) both. So I stalked the time/distance display on the machine so I only did as much as I would let me do. No more, no less. I put in my 1 hour, tossed in a little extra ab work, hocked phlegm in parking lot, and moved on with my day. Hooray for me.
I forgot to list The Decemberists on my CD obtaining list. I need to get not only their new CD, but their back catalogue as well. I have a few stray tracks, mostly from blogs that have posted songs from their CD’s or the lead singer’s solo release of Morrissey covers and I have finally, finally, succumbed to the whiny voice of Colin Meloy. It could also be that it has seemingly rained here for a solid month and I want to drown myself. Their music is tragic, depressing whimsy. It does not shock me they hail from Portland.
In other unrelated news, it seems there is a study that supports the notion that people with high cholesterol perform better on tests of mental ability than those who have lower cholesterol levels. This is why I don’t pay attention to health studies. They are stoooopid.

Oh come ON studies are great. I love how you can say something is a study and it instantly has weight. I just finished this study that proves that belly button lint is in fact not a produced from your shirts, but they are in fact a life form that procreates in your belly button, and that funky odor is in fact just runoff from their fiber factories. See? Doesn't that prattle sound official since it's a study?
