I made the mistake of weighing myself today. Sigh. Now I knew I’d put on some weight since the hip injury, since I haven’t decreased my intake of food (or alcohol) but I have significantly decreased my activity. But I’ve gained 9 pounds from where I was at this time last year (pre-Hood to Coast), and 12 pounds heavier than I want to be overall. It’s time to get medieval on myself.

Excel to the rescue! I’ve crafted a spreadsheet that tracks and calculates my caloric intake (food journal) and my caloric burn (net workout calories (less RMR for duration of workout) added to total RMR calories) so that I’m forced to pay attention to what’s going on. It’s similar to those with budget problems cracking down and writing down where every single dollar goes. Drastic times call for drastic measures.
