Everyone's aware of the devastation of Hurricane Katrina and the ongoing human suffering that has occurred as a result, most notably to the poorest residents of the area, left to fend for themselves after already losing everything.

With no means to actually arrest them, police were threatening looters, and forcing them to drop whatever they were carrying into the flooded street. Stupid thing is, now it's not just looted, it's wasted. It'll just get pitched into a dump. Why not just let them take it? New Orleans is a total loss anyway. Why do they make the poorest victims out to be criminals? I'd be right there grabbing whatever I could get off Wal-Mart shelves (specifically them to since I'd feel less guilty stealing from them) if I had been through a major catastrophe and there was no getting out and no other way to survive.

I had to turn the TV off. It only took 30 minutes of watching the news last night to become thoroughly disgusted and completely enraged.

So reading an article today, I come across this little gem:

Asked later how the richest country on Earth could not meet the needs of its people, Bush said "I am satisfied with the response. I am not satisfied with all the results."

...Um...wouldn't a better response have produced better results?? (only three more years, only three more years...)

Three years to many. May our justice system rest in peace (or is that pieces?)
