Waltrip takes sponsor from DEI for second car at BDR
NASCAR driver Michael Waltrip and NAPA AUTO PARTS announced today they have entered into a partnership with Bill Davis Racing (BDR) for the 2006 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series season...
...Davis currently fields one full-time NEXTEL Cup Series team with Scott Wimmer driving the No. 22 Caterpillar Dodge Charger.
This is some craaaazy amount of coincidence.
So this unfolds when my sweetie needs a NASCAR driver to root for (I have become a honorary Red Sox fan/Yankers hater). So after I mentioned that Michael Waltrip is NASCAR's nicest, most good-natured driver, my sweetie chose him as his driver (go figure - that he would choose Michael "I love you man!" Waltrip and I choose Tony "I'm going to shove that camera down your throat" Stewart).
Then while in Vega$, we head to Waltrip's merch trailer to grab some gear, and he selects a Waltrip/NAPA toy racecar to give to his son so, you know, we get him indoctrinated early (I had the cheerless task of picking up a Jeff Gordon t-shirt for my already well-indoctrinated youngest daughter - it made me throw up in my mouth a little).
Ok, fast forward a few months. He's shopping and allows his son to choose, completely on his own, a toy racecar- any racecar - to buy. Of all the choices, his son picks the CAT car driven by Scott Wimmer.
NOW Waltrip and Wimmer are teammates? Coincidence? HA! I think not. Tune in next week for another episode of Mysterious Mysteries of Straaange Mystery.
