Pirates!

We finally managed to see Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest last night, which I loved way, waaaaay more than the first one.

The first one was just too dark the whole way though, weighted itself down by taking itself too seriously and overwhelmed the story with all the look-at-all-the-cool-stuff-we-can-do effects. And the first one had its humorous moments, but this one much, much funnier. Plus the sequel's script was better, and the film was lighter and more visually appealing.

Johnny Depp nailed his performance, easily steeling the show from other cast members, although I was rather enamored with Naomie Harris’ performance as well.

But now it’s time to take a break from movies for a bit, since there’s all these shows coming up…Long Winters (yay!), Dresden Dolls (double yay!) and Shawn Colvin (booo…cough cough…I mean, um yay?)

I’m insanely sad that I missed the shows they’ve done when they’ve cruised through Portland.

And I must give a shout to “C,” who comments,
And I hate Panic! At the Disco anyway. You are so much better than them. They should be begging to open for you, but you should say no, of course. Because they suck.
