Monday morning recap (part three)

I figured it was time to post a few blurbs about what's rockin' the nano lately.

Tapes ‘n Tapes: The indie kids are in love with this band, who coincidentally had a recent stop here in Portland. Too bad I missed the show, because this is a good case-in-point where if the music doesn’t suck, but isn’t stand-out fantastic, then a live show can really get me in to the music.

A search in one of the music blog aggregators will be sure to find you a good cross section of stuff to sample. They’ve also got a few full length tracks on their web site, too.

On a side note, scientists should study what mysterious part of the brain produces the melodic endorphin trip when one listens to music with similar vocals/inflection to David Byrne. It’s the only explanation why everyone goes apes**t over bands who have this. (No offense to David Byrne. I like him. What? No offense taken? Ok). Clap Your Hands Say Yeah suffer from this same phenomenon. It's freakish.

The Raconteurs: Not having any problems what-so-ever getting into Jack White’s new side project, whose tracks from their new release are also making their rounds on the web. Freaking love Jack White, whose name I often mix-up with Jack Black’s because, well…he’s dark and sexy. I also love Jack Black, but not in the “sing-in-my-bedroom” way. Btw…anyone seeing the trailer for Nacho Libre should be absolutely out of their minds excited about his upcoming flick.

Sigur Rós: Go here and here for some super ultra deluxe tracks from this band. Then go here to find out what they’re saying and here to find out how to pronounce it. Bask in the glory of the brilliance of their music. Then go see them live. You're welcome.
