Jem – She's got a great voice- a little throaty, sweet and haunting – and a cute Welsh accent. I've heard a couple of songs of hers on KEXP, notably her two singles, "They" and "24", both of which drew me in instantly on first listen, so I had to check her out. Hands-down, she gets the award for the flattest exposed abs.

Her set didn't disappoint. She did a cover of "Maybe I'm Amazed", which she apparently performed on an episode of The O.C. (ick), but I won't hold it against her. Her rendition was so emotionally charged, all I could think of was my sweetie a thousand miles away, so much so that I felt his very presence next to me. I'll likely pick up her CD so I can share with him, he being of lover of the female crooner, and maybe we can add one more artist to the precious few artists we enjoy in common.
