Christmas!

We left for Seattle to celebrate Christmas with mum and dad. We drove straight through – and by "we" I mean, "not me", since I slept the entire way – and got there about one o'clock.

Glass of wine in hand, we opened presents until dinner time, as his family gives many small presents, one gift opened at a time. My sweetie prepared me in advance for this. My family tends to exchange a few, more expensive gifts which don't take much time to open. Plus by Christmas, they're usually not a surprise. We consult with each other like crazy because nobody wants to spend so many monies and get it wrong. Being practical and useful is more important than being surprised. I'm ok with it - it works for us.

Anyway, I digress. I had my first experience with Crackers (it's cute and fun to eat Christmas dinner in a paper crown), Christmas pudding (with plenty of cream) and mince pies. Plus, mum made her world famous roasted potatoes that I fell in love with when we were up for Thanksgiving. Yum.

We rounded out the night with Trivial Pursuit (they play that game a lot). By 11:30, we were wiped out and I was nursing a low-level headache from drinking red wine slowly, but solidly for ten straight hours. Now THAT'S a good Christmas!
