Word-meld
I'm a word-melder and word maker-upper. I can't help it. Sometimes the real English language just doesn't cut it. Take for instance,
driveling = drivel (stupid or senseless talk, or to talk stupidly or childishly) + sniveling (to complain or whine tearfully).
i.e. I hate to listen to them driveling about being in the 50-percent tax bracket.
dwaddle = dawdle (to take more time than necessary, or to move aimlessly or lackadaisically) + waddle (to walk heavily and clumsily with a pronounced sway).
I tell my kids to stop dwaddling all the time. They're expert dwaddlers.
So to my surprise, the littlest chicken made up a new expression on the way to school today.
We were stuck in the standard level of traffic for morning rush hour on Satan's Highway, when another vehicle caught me offguard by quickly jumping in front of me from the other lane. "JEEEESus KEEEErist!", I blurt out, slamming on the brakes. Then this boisterous voice in the back pops out "GEEZ-le WEEZ-le!"
It was hilarious. Then I thanked my lucky stars I didn't blurt out anything more profane. You parents know what I'm talkin' about.
