Battle of Equals

I haven't paid as much attention this year to the newest, hottest, creem-my-jeans indie bands to hit the scene, but a few bands have caught my attention. This is one. Watch this sh*t. Seriously.

Battles easily has to be my fave new band this year and Atlas is easily my fave song this year (although I sing, "sing this hook" in the chorus 'cause it's funny and that's what I thought it was when I first heard it).

People won't be people when they hear this sound
That's been glowing in the dark at the edge of town
People won't be people, no
The people won't be people when they hear this sound
Won't you show me what begins at the edge of town

The singer is a crook
The singer is a crook
The singer is a crook
The singer is a crook
The kitchen is the cook
The scissors are the barbers
The singer is a crook
The chorus, full of actors*

*The chorus doesn't matter (last verse)

My second favorite song this year, Equal, is from my second favorite band, Stalking Jane, who was founded by one of my most favorite people in the world, and as such, he won't be terribly offened if I tell him that I still think it's a BAD IDEA not to put Equal on the f*cking album because it is one of your BEST SONGS and since I'm not the only fan who has told you this, you should stop being such a high-maintainance bitch with all your "it's never the same song twice" and "it's just the same verse repeated through the whole song" because your goddamn fans don't give sh*t about all that, they just want a nice clean studio version on their iPod however you decide to lay down the track. Did you see that Battles repeats all their sh*t through the whole song? See? Now stop being such a f*cking pussy and do it. K?

Ahem, ok. so you hear a snippet of the song (double-click Equal on the Snocap player), and hear my second favorite Stalking Jane song, Ghost After Waking on Stalking Jane's myspace.
