Sunday - 5:00pm
I left the Fiery Furnaces set 10 minutes early to get in line for the Dresden Dolls signing which started at 5:30. I figure a half-hour early, I’d be in back in line a ways, but it would be okay. Wrong wrong wrong. There was a gi-normous line, and I had still yet to purchase another CD in the Virgin Megastore tent so I could have them sign an extra copy for a super ultra deluxe friend of mine. So I’m eyeing the enormity of the line, feeling my hope slipping and fully starting to panic, I hear someone repeatedly shouting my name. And I turn to look and see my brother and sister-in-law a mere 15 people back from the signing table.
OMG. I freaked out; it was just too in-freaking-credible to be happening. They said they’d wandered over to this area around 4:30 to meet up and hang out with me in line, but were confused when I wasn’t there. Then droves of people started to show up and they asserted themselves near the front of the line and held me a spot.
There was a bit of a panic before I showed up, because the organizers insisted that only those with a copy of the CD would be allowed in the line, and that nothing else would be signed. My sister-in-law made a convincing show of rummaging about her bag as if, of course, she had a copy of the CD. Bless her acting performance because I was able to get there, get the extra CD and get them both signed. They are crazy cool in person. I even got to to give Brian a little peck on the cheek!
Swoon.
