Sunday – 8:40pm

I'm sitting outside the Mohave tent after seeing The Dresden Dolls. NIN starts in 20 minutes. I'm sweaty. I'm starving -no time to obtain overpriced, microscopically portioned vendor food – and I have to pee, but I need to write this out before the feeling wears off.

DD live show was I-N-C-R-E-D-I-B-L-E. They've apparently got quite a following; most of those attending the show were 1) female, and 2) knew all the lyrics to every song (I also fit this criteria). The set being limited to 50 minutes, they played all their singles –Good Day, Coin-Operated Boy, Half-Jack and Girl Anachonism, plus their covers of War Pigs and some Dutch drinking song. They didn't play "Truce" (my fave DD track) which is my only criticism, if you could call it one.

My other problem is I end up missing a lot of what happens; I get so fixated on what one or the other is doing, particularly Amanda because she just captivates me. I can't stop looking at her. This is too bad, because from a performance standpoint, Brian is much more theatrical and entertaining to watch.

So I'm coming in at the tail end of The Bravery's packed-out set, so I can eventually work my way up to the front for Dresden Dolls, which I consider my headliner for Sunday (sorry, Trent).

During the set-up, I chatted with this guy named Mark, who is heading up to Seattle (from Ventura) to attend Edwards University (and later, Wazzu). He'd been waiting front row for the band since 2:45pm. That's pretty dedicated. He was also waiting to see Blood Brothers, who were playing on the same stage at 10pm. He says they do a kick-ass version of "Under Pressure" (I've heard it a couple times now, and am not so fond of it, but I'm old school and am too much of a fan of the original, I think).
